Acuna/Hoff/Mathisen at 55 BAR and Iridium
The trio "Acuna/Hoff/Mathisen" do their New York-debut in mid June, releasing their new CD "Jungle City". Venues in US are "Iridium" and "The 55 Bar" in New York plus the Rochester Jazzfestival. The events take place on 17 & 18th of June, 2009.
Hoff/Acuna/Mathisen at Rochester, New York
Hoff continues his collaboration with drum legend Alex Acuna and bassplayer Per Mathisen in this exciting trio. Confirmed date in 2009 so far is the Rochester Jazzfestival, New York in June. We are working on several project with the trio in Croatia, Eastern Europa, Sweden etc, in addition to the release of our new CD, during Spring 2008. MAGMA-CD released
The new CD MAGMA is out April 2008 and followed by several tours with Hoff in different settings. In March 2008 Jan Gunnar Hoff Group feat. Mike Stern played 3 concerts in Ukraine. The big venues was visited by approx. 3.000, in Kiev, Donetsk and Odessa. Check photos from Kiev here here.
In April 2008 Hoff and Maria Joao played several concerts in Norway, in additon to a concert in Lisinski Hall, Zagreb.

ACUNA/HOFF/MATHISEN
A new trio with JGH (keys) Alex Acuna (dr) and Per Mathisen (bass) has recently played 12 concerts in Norway, May 2008, including Bergen Nightjazz and Trondheim Jazzfestival. This has turned out to be a very successful setting and the trio is doing a recording in Austria July 2008, in addition to several festival gigs at TGV Jazzcamp, Northland Music Festival, Sildajazz and Varanger Festival, all of these in August 2008.

MAGMA TO BE CONTINUED
The MAGMA-concerts in Trondheim and Skien September 2006 were the last events in this successful tour with Jan Gunnar Hoff Group and guitar legend Mike Stern. The project had its premiére at the Bodoe festival 8th of August for an excited audience of nearly 800 and was continued with festival gigs in Varanger and Haugesund. Stern and Hoff are happy with the cooperation so far and plans for 2007 exist, further details TBA. Check out the recent photo gallery from MAGMA-tour here and updates on new concerts in 2007.

MIKE STERN IN HOFFS MAGMA
Leading jazz/fusion guitarist Mike Stern joins Jan Gunnar Hoff Group for the MAGMA-production August 2006. A grand premiére with Hoffs new composition MAGMA in Bodoe Cathedral 8th of August as part of the Northland Music Festival 2006, followed by tourdates TBA. The Hoff-band includes some of Hoffs regular collaborators Audun Kleive and Bjørn Kjellemyr in addition to upcoming trumpet player Mathias Eick. The MAGMA-cooperation also includes existing Stern/Hoff-material in new arrangements.
The full band including Mike Stern starts off in Beiarn County in the country outside Bodoe with clinics as part of The Groove Valley, a jazzcamp which includes some of the best norwegian performers acting as instructors and inspirators.
HOFF IN iTUNES UK CAMPAIGN
Appleís hugely successful music download service, iTunes, has launched a UK campaign with a strong focus on Norwegian jazz in its UK version.
With such artists as Arve Henriksen, Solveig Slettahjell, Bugge Wesseltoft, Arild Andersen, Sidsel Endresen, Jan Gunnar Hoff and Silje Nergaard at the forefront, iTunes UK has now launched a major Norwegian jazz campaign. More info here.
FREE FLOW SONGS AT VOSSAJAZZ
Jan Gunnar Hoffs new composition "Free flow songs" was performed at Vossajazz the 19th of March 2005 by a ten-piece band. The line up consisted of portuguese singer Maria Joao in addition to an all star norwegian ensemble. The reviews was very positive and leading newspaper Dagbladet headed with "Strong Hoff-delivery" and suggested a follow up tour and CD-release with the successful "Free flow songs"-project. In June 2005 Hoff met Maria Joao for a successful follow up duosession at the Harstad Festival (FINN) in Northern Norway. There are plans for an extended "Free slow songs" tour with the full crew in Norway from 19th of January until 4th of February 2006, in addition to a Hoff-participation with Joao in Le Mans november 2005.

NORTHERN LIGHTS
Hoff made a two weeks tour october 2004 with leading danish jazz and contemporary singer Cæcilie Norby with outstanding bassplayer Lars Danielsson as co-leader and composer. Also participating was drummer Finn Sletten and guitarist Børge Petersen-Øverleir in addition to the Harstad string quartet Arctimus. The newspaper "Tromsø" gave the "Northern lights"-concert a full 6-score rating. Quotes: "Danish dynamite is good as gold. A broad musical pallette, outstanding solos, lots of surprises and an extatic audience".

IN TOWN- NEW CD AVAILABLE NOW!
October 1th. 2003: The new Jan Gunnar Hoff CD ìIn townî is released on Curling legs. The core of Hoffs band is intact, with leading Norwegian jazzperformers Bjørn Kjellemyr, Audun Kleive and Tore Brunborg adding up to the crew. Trumpeter Mathias Eick from JAGA JAZZIST and leading session guitarist Børge Petersen-Øverleir are some of the guest appearances on this new CD. Hoffs musical style is a travel through fusion landscapes, piano lyrics and much more. Dagbladet says about the new album:ìStrong melodies driven by a highly vital interplay. Brunborg sounds like a young Brecker while the inspiration from Weather Report and Pat Metheny Group is evidentî. Puls review: ìInspired by New York City, Hoff gives us his best album ever. SWAP - get together!
Pianist Jan Gunnar Hoff and bassplayer Sigurd Ulveseth meets Magnus Gran and Ove Ingemarsson in this new Scandinavian setting. In addition to cooperations with most major Swedish jazzperformers, drummer Gran and tenor saxophonist Ingemarsson also has supported international artists like Bob Berg, Toots Thielemans, Johnny Griffin, Steve Swallow and Georgie Fame on various tours and projects. The Swedes form a great team with their Norwegian counterparts, and a Scandinavian tour September/October 2003 is under preparation for this new promising quartet.

HOFF WITH PAT METHENY!
During last year's Molde International Jazzfestival, Jan Gunnar Hoff and the world famous guitar player Pat Metheny performed together for the first time. The concert was a huge success, held in Alexandra Hotel July 17. The repertoir consisted of compositions from both JGH and Pat Metheny.

EQUILIBRIUM music for meditation
Behind this fusion of jazz, folk, new age and more we find Ove Bjoerken, guitarplayer from Trondheim, Norway. A long lasting duo collaboration with Hoff has led to this warm and meditative CD. Hoff Trio with Unni Wilhelmsen
In Hoffs new trio with drummer Finn Sletten and bassplayer Dag-Erik Pedersen, jazz and folk-rock are treated equal as singer Unni Wilhelmsen is introduced. With recent tour in Oslo-area and Vossajazz festival gig, the band had it's debut on a national basis. A very original concept with leading Norwegian folkrock-singer Wilhelmsen fronting this jazz-trio. Wilhelmsen launched a new solo album "Disconnected" (Universal) spring 2002 with a rock-oriented band.

Norwegian upcoming trumpeter Tore Johansen leads the way presenting singer Karin Krog in a christmas setting with all time standards and original material by John Surman, Bjørn Alterhaug, Dave Frishberg, Jan Gunnar Hoff. HOFF/FRANCE QUARTET new band
Norwegian jazz performers Jan Gunnar Hoff and Bjørn Kjellemyr meets English drummer Martin France and guitarist John Parricelli in this new quartet. Original compositions, freebag and arrangements of selected material is the musical core of this exciting new band. KOSMOS HOFF ENSEMBLE jazz meets opera!
One of Norways leading mezzos meets rock- and jazzplayers in "Kosmos Hoff Ensemble". The ensemble has made several successful concerts in Norway and Sweden and has played compositions by Nordic jazz composers: Hoff, Mikael Råberg, Jon Balke and Esbjørn Svensson. A highly original concept which had it's debut at Nordland Music Festival in Northern Norway 1996 performing Hoff's piece "This place" in the Bodø Cathedral.
